Moulin de Passais Rules
General rules for the site
As the fish are our primary concern, we would ask all our visitors to use the nets, retainer slings, unhooking mats and cradles that we provide. This good quality equipment helps keep our fish safe and reduces the risk of spreading diseases.
Please do not bring or use your own equipment.
- Fish care products are also in every swim for our guests to use on hook holds or any damaged scales.
- We ask that the fish are kept above an unhooking mat when being weighed and photographed. For photographing larger fish (40lb+) we recommend this is done in the water for its safety.
- In very hot conditions, please only have the fish out of the water for as short a time as possible. Get everything organised before removing the fish from its natural environment. This reduces the stress levels and helps the fish recover quicker.
For the safety of the fish, please follow these simple requests:
- Never leave rods unattended.
- No sacking of fish. Fish can be retained in a sling after capture for up to 10 minutes only.
- Never stand up holding a fish. Always remain low to the ground when taking photos.
- Wet the fish regularly when on the bank.
- Use appropriate rigs (see more below)
- No leaders allowed under any circumstances.
- No fixed leads or bent hooks.
- Only use micro-barbed hooks.
- Use a minimum of 13lb breaking strain main line through to rig tubing and a lead clip system.
- No braided main line.
- Rig tubing should be at least 40cm long which is sufficiently long enough to protect the fish when hooked.
- Please do not bring home-made bait, you will not be allowed to use it.
- We do allow bait boats on the lake. Please make sure they are completely dry from your previous fishing trips before putting them in our lake. This ensures that any harmful bacteria doesn’t transfer into our lake and on our fish.
- The rowing boat is included with your holiday. Please use the life jackets provided for your safety.
- You can fish with a maximum of 3 rods at a time. You can fish a float rod on the side if you want to.
- We have a couple of fire pits which you are welcome to use.
- Please do not have any fires without these fire pits, as this could pose a wildfire risk.
- Please also only use the logs provided, do not throw rubbish and other items in as this is bad for the environment.
- Please don’t bring disposable BBQs with you. We have one that you can wheel to the lake.
- Arrival time is no earlier than 2pm on your Saturday arrival date.
- Departure time is no later than 10am. We know you’ll be excited to get started but we ask you to keep to these time so that we can ensure the next guests arrive to a clean and tidy cottage, that their bait order is ready and that any lake maintenance can be done.
- Bins are provided around the lake for your rubbish and empty bottles. There are further recycling bins located in the car park for cardboard and plastics. We will remove your rubbish and recycling for you but it will be easier for us if you can place your items in the correct bins provided.
- No abuse to fish or staff will be tolerated.
- We have lovely French neighbours and we would ask our guests to be respectful of them. We want everybody to have a great time but please be mindful of your impact.
