Periwinkle Carp Lake

Another gem we are proud to offer here in Northern France.

From the moment we met Mike, a fellow passionate angler, it was clear this lake was going to be something special. Hidden at the bottom of the property, your first glimpse of Periwinkle Lake welcomes you into a true angler’s paradise.

Periwinkle Lake spans 2.5 acres and has a uniquely shaped design, featuring a central island from which you can fish, giving access to all areas of the water. A footbridge leads you to the island, where you’ll find everything you need, including a cabin fitted with a mini kitchen, lounge area, seasonal log burner, and spacious, well-landscaped swims.

Showers, toilets, and a wash-up area are located just behind the island on the other side of the footbridge.

The carp stock here is incredible — 100 hand-selected fish, chosen for their character and potential. As of April 2025, there are 11 or 12 known carp over 50lbs, including a lake record mirror of 76lbs, and the biggest common caught so far weighed just under 59lbs.

There are no nuisance fish — only carp, pike, perch, and zander — creating the perfect environment to maximise growth potential in line with modern carp fishery standards.

Originally planted with over 1,000 plants, Periwinkle Lake is a carp haven. Nearly all the banks are reed-lined, with a rich variety of aquatic and oxygenating plants providing natural food, colour, and cover — making for exciting, up-close angling.

The recently cleaned-out lake offers varied depths ranging from 3 to 6 feet, with mini plateaus, gullies, and features such as weed-lined routes and cover — a stealthy carper’s dream.

Although it boasts a generous stock, this is not a ‘runs’ water. The carp live in a haven of nature, making it perfectly suited to seasoned anglers who are used to targeting large, wary carp in often clear, weedy waters.

In a nutshell: a beautifully manicured carp lake with full facilities, all under lock and key, nestled just 1 hour 40 minutes from the St Malo or Caen ferry ports. Home to huge, unpressured carp that can make your angling dreams come true.
