Fensmere

In the hectic and increasingly busy world we all now live with carp lakes everywhere Fensmere aims to take you on a journey back in time. A time when carp did not just crawl up the rods having to continually compete due to overstocking and where skilled angling and correct bait placement will lead to a fish of a lifetime gracing the net. A place where an angler can be truly rewarded for good angling.

There are 60 fish in the lake of which at least 20 are over 50lb. At the right time of year 3 could be over 70lb with another 2-4 back up 60+ fish. The Leneys are still growing as they were only introduced in 2019 as C1 fish a few inches long. Most are now already over 20lb including some stunning zip linear, scattered linear and fully scaled belters.

The lake itself was created around 80 years ago and is both stream and spring fed. It is at the head of a unique ecosystem where rare Freshwater Pearl Mussels live in the pure waters flowing through the lake. At just over 6 acres with depths ranging from 3 to 14ft and with two shallower areas linked by a shallow far bank marginal shelf.

Each angler has similar topographic areas to fish. This means that both anglers have equal chances of fish and have similar features and areas to target. Each angler therefore has 3 acres of water to themselves with boats provided for each angler to use. Bait boats can also be used for accurate bait placement. The main swim area on the dam can accommodate 2 anglers for a very social fishing session, however, as some anglers like to fish more intimately the designated zones have one other swim each to fish from. We provide barrows for anglers that wish to separate and fish with more subtle tactics.

We will only have a maximum of 12 weeks available each year week on week off from March to mid May and September to November. This is to allow the fish recovery during spawning and during the summer and allow each group of anglers a less pressured environment.
