Another off the radar gem, no puddle this one! 11 lovely acres with just 2 swims and an enormous amount of space to enjoy. There is a traditional deep ended dam to drop off your rigs or boat over to far bank the features including lily pads and even a few smooth, glacial rocks protruding from the water. Average depths are 3.5ft – 5.5ft in the spring and 2.5 – 4.5ft in the summer if it is hot.

Set in the Creuse department in France at just under 7hrs from Calais we offer this lovely lake on a drive and survive basis. The lake has a generous stock of approximately 200 carp up to 25kg (56lb) in 11 acres. December 2022 saw a stocking of 50 pretty 8-15lb fish for the future. It has only been open to the French community for 3 years and is fished only the odd weekend or summer holiday. We have permissions for boats, you can bring your electric motor if you want and bait boats also can be used.

The lake is ideal for 2 or 3 anglers. From the large field open double swim you can cover the whole lake easily with a bait boat or a dinghy. The far margins are exceptionally good to ambush the fish as they patrol from the shallows to the dam area. They seem to have a daily routine so spread out your traps. 4 rods per person are allowed here so lots of choice of spots. You can park right next to your bivvies so no issues setting up and camper vans are also welcome, so it is ideal for couples to rent and have the lake to themselves.

The local shops including a bakers, a butchers and a restaurant are only 1km away in the village of Chénérailles.

Bookings run from Sunday to Sunday so no rush at the weekend to arrive like most venues on a Saturday. Fishing start time is 12.00 midday and finish by 11.00am the following Sunday. The venue is open all year round but mid-March to November are recommended.

This is an ideal starter venue for boat users as it’s a nice size with a friendly stock of fish.
