Brenne Carping

Brenne is a stunning 22 acre/10 hectare old fish farm lake situated in the Brenne National Park. The lake is spacious and tree lined with nature all around so it’s the perfect venue to enjoy with friends.

There is ample fishing space with 7 double swims/posts to choose from, some of which have a decked out area for your rods and playing area putting you out in the lake. Ideal for fishing up the margins which the carp frequent.

The lake is ideal for up to 8 anglers or amazing for 4/6 anglers fishing the peninsular area as you can literally be fishing back to back but all have 4/6 acres each of lake to explore.

Make-up of the bottom is mainly sandy deposits with light silt and gravel. Depths are fairly consistent averaging 2.5ft-5ft. Max 6ft by the vidangé where the water is extracted annually to remove any small roach and bred fish.

Carp stock is generous with approximately 380 carp from 20lb to a just over 60lb. The lake has a huge head of 40/50lb fish. Spring and Autumn catch reports show that 1 in 4 is over 40lb. Many big commons, pretty scaled mirrors and linear mirrors reside here and it’s not uncommon to have several big ones turn up at once. Bring two nets as double takes are common!

These carp generally respond to food. They are fed all year round with crushed maize or pellet providing the water temperature is plus 10 degrees and will visit and clean you out in a few hours. They behave like carp should, bubbling/jumping and often show in groups, giving themselves away to the stealthy angler willing to drop a PVA bag or bait boat out a trap. Back leads are the norm here as they are likely to kite.

We allow bait boats and you can also hire out rowing boats to check the swims out, position a marker or just bait up daily. It is possible to bring your own Zodiac but why bother when we have new 2.5m boats on site for €70 a week per boat. Easy to share if on the point. You are welcome to bring an electric outboard for ease.
